Pretty Cool

It's pretty cool when I wake up happy, fresh from a dream of what could have been. Then reality intrudes. But slowly. The dream fades as I walk from my bed to the bath. Brush the scum from my teeth, stare in the mirror, say 'Hello' to the me that's not me but the only me that's brushing my teeth.

I'm awake and all alone. Again. Somehow I just find that hard, yet easy, to accept. Still got the guy in the mirror. Hang in there, buddy.
