I know I bring you both happiness and worry.

Trust me. I’ m in no hurry to go.

Or sometimes, to remain.

I love to walk up behind you, reach under your arms around your rib cage and cup your breasts, nestle my face in your hair, and inhale. What cologne are you wearing? Smells like Infinity.

Adjacent campfires. Their smokes intertwine as they rise.

That’s us:

We’re smoke,

We’re ghosts.

Too soon, we’re toast.

That’s why I keep returning to verse two.
